Ben, yeah - I am far from scared off, and thanks for the welcome!!

Here's what I have as of 9am today for Monterey Bay...
.FRI NIGHT...W WINDS 5 TO 10 KT. WIND WAVES 1 FT.
W SWELL 4 TO 9 FT.
.SAT...W WINDS 5 TO 10 KT. WIND WAVES 1 FT.
NW SWELL 4 TO 9 FT.
.SUN...W WINDS 5 TO 15 KT. WIND WAVES 1 TO 2 FT.
NW SWELL 4 TO 9 FT.

I too am leaning towards ARW with Gary...  It's simpler and the fishing, just last weekend, has been proven.  But if everyone goes to Berkeley pier, I will too.  I just need to find a launch that's free.  Maybe behind the racetrack.

salmon bite sounds pretty bleak about now. But I would sure like to give it a try this weekend. Maybe going for a long paddle should be a first thought? and catching a salmon by chance a second possibility.

I can understand the long paddle theory after last weekends adventure  :smt005 .  With the current reports in mind, it sounds like the salmon have scattered somewhat or moved from the Pt. Pinos area to some yet to be determined other areas.  With that in mind, we could go back there or try someplace else like everyone else.  The way I see it no option is particularly better than any other in therms of the chance to catch a salmon so I would plan to make sure if we go a long way, the prevailing wind will be behind us on the way home.  It does not make sense to be 4.5 Miles off Pt Pinos with a 15 knot n or nw wind to fight to get around the point.  I am thinking Monterey or Coral St. and going North into the bay and toward the canyon or toward the area off the old Officer's club (no longer there) near Marina or try Moss again.  If we do the Officer's club and salmon fishing is bad, we could drag for halibut along the beach on the way back to MBK.

Ben, its best to net bait at high tide and that would be 10:00 PM Friday night.  So save your net for another trip.  I'll keep tossing the net until I have enough bait for a group.  Besides you usually do good with my lucky bait.

Gary, are you planning to net tonite? and keep them til tomorrow?  i was gonna try to make bait at MLK(the spot) in the morn. then hit the wall........but you deflated my hopes......anywhere else you know of in that area?    i saw some guys netting them along EMBARCADERO/Oakland off a small dock, where the boatshops are off 80?  I will try there in the a.m. before launch.

Anyone ever try along Crisey field? If so, is there a decent place to drag a yak to?

I picked up some notorious purple hase (all around my brain) hoochies and plan to launch from Coral St and head north toward the middle of the bay and generally toward Moss or the old Officers Club (like Bluekayak suggested).  I will launch about 6 or 6:30 and troll around for 5-6 hours switch to mooching if I find bait and ending up back at Coral St. by noon or so.  Company welcome and hope the wind is light in the morning.  I will monitor ch 69 on the water.  I'll be back out there again on Tuesday (launch from Stillwater) to hit rockfish and if the reports improve also try for salmon.  I may drop the rockfish off at the car and then go back out to avoid conflicting regulations for the different fish.  Although if I get salmon tomorrow, it may be strictly rockfish on Tuesday.

I'd be out there with you but I'm still landlocked   Out from Pinos 4 or 5 and zigzag towards Moss or SoqHole would be the ticket

Also it seems like the pb'ers are fishing too deep

good luck
