It turns out the foot cramps is from the full foot fins pockets  being too small.i dug out one of my older open heel fins and no foot cramp.so I'm taking it a tad too far when people say that you want it tight so it doesn't slip off
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

I have been noticing this situation in many areas, too. I'm no biologist, but my observation has been that the starfish took such a big hit following that toxic bloom a while back that the urchins which seemed to be unaffected are now unchecked. They wipe out the kelp which is starving the abalone.

Real talk for sure! I've noticed the same.

Had the same issue with the foot cramping cuz of the snug foot pocket.  when i upgraded fins, i bought something a little less snug and bought a pair of fin keepers.  red triangle has them on sale.  they were a great investment for me.

hope that helps!

I have been diving at the Sea Ranch for the past 30 years and have never seen so many urchins.  Dove a couple weeks ago, and while there are still quite a few abs, they are definitely hungry!  They have all been pushed out of their caves and crevices and sit on top of the rocks.  It was a carpet of urchins and dead kelp stalks.  I popped a 9.5" ab and it had the meat of a 6" ab.  Have also noticed the near shore fishing has suffered.  Used to be able to catch 10+ fish every time off the rocks.  Now I have to fish pretty hard just to get a few.
