Looks like a great trip.  It is always fun to fish new regions, they always seem to have some kind of wierd different fish to catch.  Sportfishing at its best.

Yep.  Randy takes incredible pictures.  But, I did manage a few.
Since we spent more time onshore than we would have wished, it was SUPER that we got the beachside room which was mostly wind protected.  Sipping "another" cerveza and preparing gear was time well spent.

And the panga ride in, on our last day fishing, was a real hoot......since Guiellermo was such a skilled captain.  Surf landing was as gentle and smooth as could be.  This is a shot from the hotel.  I was too busy holding on during the ride back.  Of course, it doesn't fully capture what the day was like, but it gives a hint.  All the cruisers (billfish were hot) off loaded their fishermen into a skiff and then headed north somewhere for the day.

Pat, Randy.... isn't amazing how hard all of those baja fish can pull.... even those tasty little triggers?

That room you got has one of the best views.  That looks like the same room Freddie and his girlfriend got last year.

Very nice fish and scenery pics.  Sorry the wind didn't cooperate, but at least you know what to look to next time.  I'm glad you two had a good time!

Great report,  too bad about the wind.  Yeah, Guillermo is a great guide and Spike is sure a character!!  My buddies and I are booked for the week of Oct 8th.   I can't wait to go!

Attached is a pic of Guillermo and my buddy and a rooster caught in front of those houses a little south last Oct.

The water looks nice and calm....you guys must have lucked out on the weather.

Question: how's the kayak fishing at night? Has anyone tried doing that?

We didn't have a chance to find out.  Too windy.   :smt011

Randy-

Good to hear that you guys ate well. The first time I've ever had trigger ceviche was at the ranch and I must say... it was pretty damn good. Hey, I didn't see any pictures of any needle fish??? Did you guys get into them at all??? They were all over the place last year... more like a pest than anything. If I'm not mistaken... judging from your picture of the view from your room... I might have stayed in the room next to you on your left looking out. I'm so itching to get back down there... won't happen until next year though. Got to save some cash...

Here's the view from the room me and my honey stayed in. Can you say, "Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet"???

Mooch-

Fishing at night can be dangerous to your health down there. Chucke and I were thinking hard about it but, after talking it over with Spike... we thought it'd be best to just chuck bait from the shore. We were told that there are a lot of crazy assed fish down there that like spearing kayakers. No joke... I guess the needles and other fish with sharp, hard bills go airborn at night. We didn't want to get speared down there so we didn't even attempt it. I would like to try it if I had full body armour though...

Freddie,

We didn't get into the needles, but I saw them while paddling in on our one full day out.  They were just a few yards off the beach.  Big boys, too.  They looked to average about 4 feet and slithered like snakes.  I was trolling my Rebel at the time and kept hoping they wouldn't take it.  I didn't relish the prospect of trying to get the treble hooks out of those toothy mouths!

We actually saw a lot of fish that just weren't biting what we were offering.  On the first morning, Pat and I found ourselves sitting in the middle of a HUGE school of 20-30# jacks just 10' or so under our boats.  There were literally hundreds of them.  We were over them for 10-15 minutes. I threw everything I had- krocs, megas, knife jigs, squid, but they went out of their way to avoid it all.  If there's anything worse than an indifferent fish, it's hundreds of indifferent fish.

It looks like we might have stayed in the same room.  It was the one on the left,  #21.  Wish you'da left more savage mojo in it!   :smt003
