Got 5 hours of sleep last night!  :smt044
That's the record so far.

He had his first checkup today and id right on track according to the doc, so that's good news.

I remember the day when my youngest started sleeping 5 hours at a time.  That was glorious.

She was 6 years old...

Congrats again pop!

I feel like it's time for an update.

Little dude just turned a month today.

He weighs a little over 10lbs and is already picking his head up. He eats 2x what he did when he was born.

Usually gets up twice a night. Gets fed and changed and goes back to bed.

This dad thing is easier in alot if ways than I expected but harder in a few I didn't. I've realized that I was a selfish person mostly due to only taking care of myself since the age of 17. Not selfish with money/possessions but with my time. I was used to doing what I wanted whenever I wanted.

The little dude has taught me there are things worth using my time for, like hanging out with him.

Cheers,
Logan

Solid update, one month already, longest month for you?  Fishing plans, one hour soak with little one in stroller?  Anywhere, night fishing if he's up?  No worries, the time will show itself.  Be well................ :smt006

It was tough only taking 10 days off since I hadn't accrued any PTO at the new job and FMLA only starts paying on on the 8th day.

Definitely wish I could have taken 2-3 weeks  off. It's hard to find time to do simple things like change the oil in the vehicles etc.

I'm working 930-6 tues-sat which seems to work out fairly well. Keeps me out of traffic and lets me help mom out in the morning.

Planning next weekend to get a couple hours of bank fishing in. Don't see the kayak leaving the garage soon..

2.5 Month update.

He's gotten huge! 25 inches and 15lbs and counting.

All is well, except for his clothes not fitting. We're into the 6-9mo stash now.

We went down to San Diego two weekends ago to visit a good friend of mine who just welcomed a daughter to their family.

9.5HR drive down, 7.5HR back  :smt013

He did really well on the ride back as it was night time so he just slept.

While down in SD my buddy and I got up in the wee morning hours to get some fishing in. I caught a kelpfish and a fairly large octopus(released) and he landed a nice 8-10lb Calico Bass!

We took the Calico home and made tacos. It was a solid trip.

Cute kid!  The ladies better watch out!  Nice to hear that you guys are adjusting.  There are only few things that are worth more than coming home, hug the little one, and hear mom's sight of relief.  I wish you the best of everything for you and your family!

Yes it was, and I'm glad it was in the salt even if we were just cliff fishing.

Now we're shopping for a new family vehicle. Leaning towards a Pilot or MDX (Used, 09+). More leani,ng towards the MDX since Honda got sued big time over oil consumption issues on the 08-12 Pilot.

Going to sell my Subaru WRX as it's super un-friendly carseat wise, and I'll keep my 2000 4Runner for my work commute - 40 miles a day.

Doing well, but caught his first little cold and had the first trip to the ER. Doing better now, though.

Pic from a week or two ago.

Ah the first trip to the ER.  I remember mine with my first child.  It was a nice summer day and my kids decided they were gonna call me from the garage door.  "Daddy, daddy"   SLAM!!!!  Then complete chaos.  The door slammed on my 3yr olds fingers and popped 3 fingernails out of her quticals.  Completely horrorifying.  The messed up part is I was freaking out inside.  But, you can't show them that, you must remain calm.  Oh the memories.  There will be many.  I have three girls and the first child is most difficult.  After that you might forget things like booboos and every fake choke.  They are fun and easier the older they get.  Enjoy yours as I enjoy mine.

Hope the fishing is going well.  Don't worry the freak outs about your time will wane over time.

Little dude is 9 months already! Time flies.

He's crawling all over the place, and now is standing on his own for a bit. Don't think we've got long until he's walking.

Honestly, the first 6 months were tough on everyone. Now things are getting easier, and it's easier to get back to the things we used to do before. The only place we haven't been is the movies, but that's okay with me.

That's awesome....what a handsome boy you got there.

You're going to be busy when he starts to walk  :smt001

My youngest Lucas now almost 12 went from crawling to running.

As soon as you put him down he would bolt.

Went on vacation and couldn't relax as soon as we sat down under a palapa on the beach he was off to the races. My oldest Noah was happy playing with sand and building castles.....but not Lucas.

Was driving my wife nuts the first day which affected my vacation too. So we hired a sitter to chase after him in Cabo for 10 hours a day for 2 weeks. At 10 bucks an hour it added up fast but it was the only way to
relax and know that he was safe.

The sitter would just follow him around the resort and bring him back to my wife relaxing under the palapa every 15 mins. After a couple minutes he'd bolt again with the sitter right behind him....rinse and repeat 10 hrs a day for 2 weeks.

I've been going to the same resort for 28 years and its a second home to me and my family. The staff to this day still remember little Lucas running around the resort and the sitter is still employed there too.   :smt001
