Coral St/Pt Pinos Fri 4/13/07?

I'm thinking of checking out the conditions at Pt Pinos tomorrow, 4/13 for salmon.  I'll take a couple of halibut rigs as a backup - Seabreeze caught hers near there about this time last year.

NW WINDS 5 KT. WIND WAVES 1 FT OR LESS. MIXED SWELL W 4 TO
9 FT AT 10 SECONDS AND S 4 FT AT 17 SECONDS.

Probably a 10% chance of decent conditions.  It's supposed to rain Saturday, tho maybe conditions wouldn't be too bad otherwise, then Sunday it's going to be windy.

I'd launch at Coral St. in Pacific Grove. Ch 69

Tom,

You are killing me.  I am dying to get out there again and it looks like Saturday will be raining.  I can not join you Friday (something about work  ) but may consider Saturday or more likely Sunday (depending on conditions) from the same place.

It really does look like the Hog Farm is the best shot at picking up Salmon right now. I wish you luck. If the work situation and weather conditions were a little better, I'd be joining you.

Does not look conducive to a launch+return at Coral St in my opinion. I would expect waves to be breaking inside the little cove there. But you might be able to launch from Lovers and paddle out.

Wind was easily approaching 20kts today in Monterey. I wouldn't expect the wind to die down to 5kts North by tomorrow morning…it will still be gusty.

According to this little animated loop, conditions look good for next Tuesday.

Thanks for the reactions, maybe Saturday will be better, even if it's wet.

I was thinking of playing hooky and joining you Tom but the weather doesn't look like it is going to cooperate.

Keeping an eye on the forecast and looking for a window...  Good luck and be safe if you make an attempt.

For you folks at work thinking I'm at the Hog Farm - I'm not.  Being stubborn, I just had to go take a look. Coral St was quite launchable, just need to avoid the left hand corner on the way out.  wind was <5, but the chop stirred up by yesterday's wind was enough to make me call it off, though if I'd had company, I might have done it, though that opinion was formed on the shore.  As I stood there I kept thinking "Blue would go."
   Several party and private boats were out about a mile from Pinos.
