Anyone here picked up the new Mirage Drive 180 yet?  I'm curious what they think?  I'm in the market to pick up a kayak for my wife and I'm considering shelling out the big bucks for a new Hobie Sport so that we could interchange the drives between the two when she's not with me.  But if anyone has any other suggestions for a decent, sea-worthy and light paddle kayak, then I'd consider buying that then picking up the drive separately.  They go for about $800.00 so even if a kayak cost $750.00 new, its would be a good $700 cheaper than a new sport.  Any suggestions?

Love mine. Just be careful when on reverse on a skinny kayak, the rudder can turn suddenly sometimes that can throw you off balance

Good idea to get her a new Hobie Sport then commandere the 180 drive for your kayak...put your mirage drive in the Sport, then don't even tell her about it and she'll never know the difference!

You deserve a raise, that is some sage wisdom you are imparting right there.  I'll write a letter of recommendation for you to get a raise if you want.

Love the 180 drive. for me i don't know the difference, just went to the dark side !!! I use it like a bass boat, peddle up to the cove, hit reverse and back out a little. In the wind it is great to stay on your spot.

We had engine357 accidentally pull his cable out as well up here, his other comment was with cold fingers it actually hurts to pull if .... not that California and cold go hand in hand.
