Hi Omart,
The Lowrance Hook 5 comes with a HDI Skimmer 83/200 455/800KHZ transducer that i's a combo for Chirp and DSI. If you have a pre-2015 Hobie you cannot mount it under the scupper hole as it is too large will stick to far down below the hull. I have a 2016 Revo that is Lowrance ready, the HDI Skimmer transducer fits into the bottom of the scupper hole with a a protection plate. My other Hobie is a 2014 did not have this feature and I ended up using a Ram mount arm on the right side of the kayak. I did not want to do a thru hull mount.
I have also found the Lowrance customer and tech support has been great!!!
Here's what the pre 2015 transducer arm looks like of my 2014 Oasis tandem, I ended using a Ram mount transducer arm because the Scotty arm seemed kind of flimsy.
Aloha,
Da Bruddah
Michael

I believe a FF with a GPS is the only way to go, especially on the ocean.  And it's not a bad idea to have a backup handheld GPS in the pocket of your life vest.  GPS is not only handy for marking those special fishing spots but I use mine on the ocean to watch the speed and direction of my drift.  I use a Lowrance Elite 4 CHIRP unit and it does everything I need.  However I wouldn't mind a larger screen at times.

The key to a good FF and GPS is knowing how to use it thoroughly.  Be sure to read the owners guide and before you hit the water get familiar with all the settings, so you know how to use them in a pitch.

I think the key to a good FF is following your buddy who knows how to use one LOL !!!!!! GPS is nice to get back in when the fog comes in and they leave you, but, i will have a Hobie this year !!!
Lol.  That sure has worked out for you.  You said you were getting a Hobie last year.  [emoji13]
