North Coast 3/24-3/25

I gotta be up North this week for work so . . going to do my best to get out on Sat or Sun.  It's too early . . but right now the swell forecast for SAT is:

.SAT...NW WIND 10 TO 15 KT...EASING TO 5 TO 10 KT. WIND WAVES 2 TO 3 FT. W SWELL 8 TO 10 FT. SLIGHT CHANCE OF RAIN

Is Shelter Cove do-able with 8-10ft swell?  I'm down to pop a dramamine if the launch is do-able.

I'm going to be playing it by ear but pretty determined to fish somewhere.  Basically - I'm willing to head as many as 180 miles from Eureka in any direction except North or West (of course).   So who's fishing?

There is always freshwater action too, Chris!
For example, Trinity Lake smallies and trout, Lake Mendo everything, Eel River steelies, Stone Lagoon trout and steelies, etc etc.
And on the ocean side, there is always the option of drifting Humboldt bay for sharays and early halibuts.
So many options...so little time.

That's the latest NWS forecast for Cape Mendo to Pt. Arena.  It is do-able, but could cause sea-sickness!

no doubt - that's why I threw out such a wide net (180 miles).  Basically . . I'd be up for some kind of fishing . .whatever/wherever . .as long as it's in CA and within about 3 hours of Eureka . . there's gotta be at least of couple of you looking to get out within that general area.

Thanks for the suggestions, too . . if I end up going solo I'll probably hit the river or a lake somewhere.

The forecast seems to be holding pretty steady for decent winds this weekend, and that 9' swell may not be too bad...  If there was word of a salmon bite at the Cove I'd say go there, but the South Fork of the Eel is probably the most accessible and scenic opportunity.
