I respect that you created an account and addressed this issue, and made a followup. We (all of us) sometimes have a problem owning our actions, so when it's done I have respect for it.

As a person that was stuck bank fishing since I moved to CA last year I think I can give that perspective.

I will often move up and down the bank  to find the fish especially if I am using a lure. If I see someone on a boat or kayak move into an area I was fishing in the past or am moving to I will wait for them to move on. Once they leave the area its open to move into.

Could it have been the guy and his wife were moving up and down the bank chasing the fish? Once you got blown out and didn't immediately move back in (you sat out and talked to your friend) he thought you were moving on? You didn't see him so it could be that he didn't realize you were coming back and like you got a little aggravated? Add to that the same situation could have happened with his wife and your friend earlier? I don't know about you, but I'm pretty protective of my wife (when I had one).

Personally when I am relegated to shore fishing I get pretty irritated when boats and kayaks move into an area I am fishing and it does happen quite a lot. In the past I have walked away and acted just like this guy.

To me this entire situation seems to be a misunderstanding that got compounded by poor decisions (yes we all make them), but that's just my opinion.

Anyway; you live you learn you grow. Have a great weekend.

I feel slightly stupider for watching that video. But it did help reinforce the idea that some people are oblivious to the effect their actions have. The bank fishers may not have as much experience as the guy in the kayak; and therefore are unfamiliar with basic fishing ettiquitte. And the kayaker seemed completely uneducated too (at least from the perspective of someone who has lots of fishing experience and adheres to basic, common ettiquitte). Sometimes people are unintentionally jerkish.

Come on now, you're not showing the 3rd video where you turned off your camera and went up there and served him up some whoop ass in a can.  It's ok, I like your your diversion video.  Just kiddin' :smt005.  I have plenty of relational regrets gettin' angry, especially with rude drivers.  I'm all growed up now. :smt006

Holy CRAP...  !     You  paddled right up to the bank where this guy is fishing.     And now, you produce a second video as an excuse for your actions.

" He just popped right up"  ,,,, might be because his car is parked there.

      " Hey, I'm just going to make a few casts " ....     :smt009

This is a good example of what not to do. Who knows what kind of person you might have come up to, and sitting on a kayak you might have make yourself a floating target. Ya never know these days. BESAFE

Come on.... They're on a kayak and got the whole lake to explore.
+1.  There was no need to get that close to them.

Sounds like you feel some remorse. That's cool. We all fuck up now and then. Look at Montana, he fucks up all the time and we love him.  :smt044 :smt044 :smt006 You are chill bro carry on wayward son. Its all a learning experience. Stoked you are open to change.

we are now in September and yes, you were still wrong, my friend tried to set his boat close to shore where a lot of people were bank fishing for Salmon at the Benicia state Park then all the sudden there were like 3 or 4 fishermen using his boat for target. there is no reason to be aggravating those people.

Used to piss me off when I would cast snares for crab at Baker Beach and kayakers would drop their pots just past the breakers in front of where I was casting. Lazy! Takes a lot of work to limit or even get a few keepers from shore. Now that I have my yak I'll be sure to paddle out a ways and show a little respect.

Those people are already aggro, and yes there is a ton of water to explore.  I figure they can cast 50 yds max, I can cast 50 yds, so 120 yds out, just out of shouting distance is perfect.  But yes, like you say, no intentional aggressive ignition. :smt006

I just don't fish next to bank fisherman, lol. The whole reason for having a boat or kayak is to get where they can't. More often than not, you will be better off fishing other places.... They are limited!
