Hi Folks, I looked on the DFG website but could not pinpoint what the regs are for Lost Lake near Friant just outside of Fresno. Does anyone know what the rules are to fish for trout there? I know it can be good and they do plant fish but I dont know what "body of water" that is and what rules govern it.

I could not find a "lost lake" or a "friant dam" or a "millerton lake" in the DFG Reg book which is all what is near and feeds the lost lake park area.

Thanks for any tips that may lead to me fishing or just looking: )

Thanks!

John

i know its stupid to reply to my own post but I just found the answer by calling the fresno DFG office on Shaw Ave. The rules are:

Lost lake park is on the San Joaquin River.

Rules are: open year round for fishing trout

You cna get 5 trout and one salmon right now.

Hopefully I will have some luck as I never usually do with fresh water; )

Nothing wrong with replying to your own post. The info is good. I believe you can also edit your previous posts too.

They load the Kings River below Pine Flat Res with monster trout. You might want to make the drive out there, if possible. Certain sections are barbless, artificials only so you should check the regs but otherwise, Game On!

man , when i was in school at csufresno i used to go to pine flat and there were always loads of people out there fishing. unfortunately i think that area opens for trout later in the year as lost lake is open year round. i remember seeing the pine flat trout, they were pretty big and although i saw them they were never on my stringer or hook

i did some scuba diving at millerton lake a few years back and the water level was full. it was like diving in an underwater forest. saw trout and bass swimming. trees to go through and trails submerged as well. the water was so clear but really cold.

there is a lot of stuff to do around there but just need to know where to do it: )

Ya, there's plenty to do out there...if you enjoy the outdoors.
The lower Kings River is definitely open right now. Check out this article: http://www.fishsniffer.com/dbacher/060129kingsriver.html
The article is from last year, but it holds true for this year too. You should consider checking it out if you have time.

Pine Flat is an interesting lake. My friends and I do a riverrafting trip down the Kings each summer, above Pine Flat. Its pretty fun; we drive 8 miles up a dirt road and float back to camp...then do it all over again! Last summer we even stayed in the old Ranger's Cabin (only 75/night!) with AC. Talk about luxury! Its right on a good fishin hole too!
