I think angularity makes a huge difference in efficiency on pedals. Now, I haven't used one, but friends with recumbent bikes and trikes swear by them, and they have the pedal crank about level with their butts. They are, however, leaning way back, which wouldn't work very well on a 'yak or for fishing. They also make a circular motion with their feet, rather than the back-and-forth of the Hobie drives. I dunno if that makes a difference in the ergonomics or not. The G2 looks stable enough to support the higher COG. Most of the guys using them seem to think so, anyway. I'll get my new one on the water in a few days and have a more informed opinion on that.

Good luck with your choice!

COG sure looks high on that G2. Seems like you'd get tossed around in rough water. Yikes...

With the high/comfy seat, it's surprisingly stable. And it's easy to attach a standard kayak seat (and even secure it at the base for pedaling efficiency), which lowers the COG several inches to the point where you'd have to try pretty hard to flip it. The width even makes for good sailing without outriggers.
I don't like stuff that sucks.
