Hi. everyone,
after I saw glorious victory of Mooch (the fisherman of last year).  I decided I'm going to involve more NCKA since Mooch is probably going to buy PB with his winning prize & retire from kayaking.  I might be the next Asian Idol (after Savage of course)
Anyways, I went to hit Lake Berryessa for early spring big mamas or surface stock trout & salmon.
I finished my business in Davis in the Fri morning & headed to Berryessa.  I stopped by winters to get some minnows & had epic 6 tacos for $5 at winters famous roachcoach.  I drove around the lake but I knew I was gonna go to Oak shore.  There are no wake zone around it & few island sticking out, but I was sure where to launch the kayak.  I needed go to bathroom after the super spicy tacos, so I stopped my favorite public bathroom in Berryessa right after the Oak shore camping ground.  The parking lots & bathroom were seem like built for hikers & picnicker by USBS.  It was pretty close to the water, so I decided to check it out.  It was totally doable & there is no gate, so I don't have to worry about to getting stuck if I fish too long.
Since, none with me to take me pics.  I only have snapshot w/out me...
This is the parking lots "Smittle Creek."  Nice & sunny!

I set up the caper & ready to get down.  It was already 1pm.

This is the trail that I went down.  It wasn't that bad at all.

I fished one pole switching around crewers, spinners, & crank bait.  Another pole used as "yokubari" (that's what I call now) set up.  one minnow on the top & worm on the bottom.  I used bobbers set around 15-20 feet with bobber stopper.

Here is the my 1st bass of this year... about 15inch with worm.

I pick up few after & this one was the biggest (16inch) also with worm.

I had some good bobber pulls but they just munched my minnows...  I need figure out some good way to keep fish on the hooks...

The fish weren't biting much.  It might be too early? or the barometer dropped due to the storm coming in? I don't know...  The wind picked up alot & the water started getting choppy & it took the caper everywhere that I don't want to go, so I didn't stay until dark, but I guess it was pretty good trip cuz I didn't drown!

Thanks for the report - I plan on fishing this lake a lot more this year. It's only about an hour and a half away from the Peninsula. Just gotta fish it some time soon...while the skiers are off the water  :smt002

Water color looks good still. Should be turning on in a month or so in some of the shallower areas. That access looks like a a great one for the yaks. I'm sure they are still picking up trout near the dam also. Cold water keeps em on top.
