Even though what I am about to say on here is not in California, I figured there might be some that might be coming to Texas soon to fish (possibly the Extreme Kayak Fishing Tournament in Texas on September 24th).  If this sounds interesting, check out the link and read the story.  Texas is known for the kings and the size that goes with it!  I hope you enjoy.  http://www.texaskayakfisherman.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=58&t=235318

BTW... I may be coming over to California soon to do some BTB.  When that happens, I will be posting up on Nor Cal in hopes that I can get some knowledge on the fishing over in Cali.  If any of you are thinking of coming over to Texas, hit me up if you have any questions.  832-588-7091  Tight lines!!

Cool!  That's a sweet king mackerel!  I've never even seen one before.

I had to look up BTB, it's not in our common usage here.  "Beyond the Breakers", so fishing salt.  We love that here.

I am still working on that.  I am not sure when I will be there yet but making sure that when I do make it, I am well organized so the trip will be fun and productive!!

crash... my apologies as I thought that was a common term used many places for offshore kayak fishing.  Yes, we refer to BTB in Texas as "Beyond the Breakers."  I had heard that it's something you guys do over in Cali so I thought I would do my homework first and find out the best time(s) to go and the species that can be targeted during those times.

Right on, it's always cool to see how people yakfish in other parts of the world. So feel free to post pics & reports & info from Texas! And if you're planning a CA fishing trip...this is definitely the place to ask Q's!

Emperor Norton fines you $25 for calling it Frisco.  I think calling it Cali is somehow acceptable now, especially if you are under 35.  Its an abomination, of course, but I think that's just because I'm old. If you are over 40, don't even think about calling it Cali.  If you are under 40, GET OFF MY LAWN.

Baddass setup. I am to from Corpus and have been in North California for a year. Hit me up when y'all come up north. We got a Texan hobie fishing crew here.

Sounds good!  I'll keep ya posted on when I can make it.  Until then, I will have to settle for mahi, kings, smacks, sharks, a buddy of mine caught a AJ just a few miles from shore so that is now a possibility (however I think that AJ was lost, lol), cobia, jacks, red snapper, etc..

Thanks guys for the input.  Much appreciated.  I'll be definitely reaching out when I come over that way.  I currently have a Hobie Outback and a Hobie Tandem Island.  I'll fish offshore in either.  I'm game for whatever.
