Back to the topic at hand... This might be something worth mentioning at the Placer County F&G comission meeting this month. If these guys are harassing people and preventing them from fishing, I think the game warden and commission should hear about it.

Do we have any info about the bad guys and the frequency with which they are messing with people?

I'm sorry to hear about these dangerous and nerve-racking and encounters. I wish to point out at least one of our members who is a very proud Russian is the most gentlemanly man you could hope to meet. He is extremely proud to be an American. I can't say that I've ever met a harder worker, his dedication to his family is touching, and it is a big deal to him that he is one of us. The fact that these dangerous criminals are Russians is useful only as a way to identify them not a reasonable explanation of why they are the way they are.

I miss that guy!  Thanks for the reminder,  It's been awhile, I need to drop him a line.

The fact is we travel alone in the wee hours of the morning and to places in the middle of nowhere.  You need to watch you back!  At any of these lakes!  I've seen my share of sketchyness up this way too.  Plus, you never know when Bigfoot is watching you unload your gear and ready to pounce on you.   :smt003  Be careful and if something doesn't feel right then it's probably best to fish someplace else.

I called the ranger but he didn't have specific info. He said there was a problem at Hell Hole recently but portrayed it as an occasional thing, likely involving too much alcohol.

The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope.  ~John Buchan

National Forest Service law enforcement is a rather prestigious job, I would expect them to be extremely well connected and useful in this matter. They will know exactly how to deal with the scuzzbags if they can be convinced that it is "nessasary" and falls within their jurisdiction. You would think they would need a number of agencies on board to deal with things safely and effectively. I would start with Feds around El Dorado National Forest somebody knows someone. I understand it usually starts with a littering ticket next thing they know the officers buddies who are likely veteran officers from other agencies "appear" with firearms and handcuffs handy and compliance ensures. But it is not service on demand.

That time of year I start wearing body armor in the backroads. Black truck, govt plates, alone, no cell/radio reception, shit gets hairy, not the russians usually it is the pot growers. I run into them a lot.
Live your life, the way you want to be remembered. Don't have any regrets, we only get this one dance to make it count. Start at your eulogy, and work backwards.

Yep, we've been having sketchy and dangerous run-ins the last few years with armed grow guards.  We run into them in some of the burned areas in the years right after the fires.  Be vigilant if you are out in the King fire on the Eldorado NF and other fire areas.
