Afternoon NorCal Kayak!

So this is technically my second introduction thread, but this is the real one. I swear!

I'm up here in Humboldt County and I was interested in getting into kayak fishing around two years ago. Now I have the funds to purchase a kayak - finally! I'm planning on getting into rivers, lakes, and nearshore fishing.

Right now the most difficult part is selecting which kayak to get. I think I have it narrowed down to two models though.

Thinking about the Perception Pescador Angler 12.0 and the Pompano 120 Angler. Both are ~ $675 with shipping. Is there any reason I should choose one over the other? And does anyone else know of a better price than that for a new one?

Welcome back... to that same old place that you laughed about...
Are you pondering what I’m pondering?

Thanks!

Thanks for the welcome! From what I've gathered online, the Pescador 12.0 seems to be a solid kayak.

I just kept on comin' back!

Welcome!

Don't forget to check craigslist for used kayaks; there are definitely deals to be had there, but you have to cast a wide net and watch it like a hawk.

I've been checking nearly every day. I'm searching south of my area and even slightly north up into Oregon, if the price was right. I'll keep an eye out though!

That Pompano kayak was on sale for $499 at West Marine two weeks ago! Seems like a killer deal. You should consider calling some of the stores to see if they have floor models or demos for sale. Not sure where the closest is to Humboldt, but I know there's one in Redding/? (and if ya go that far, might as well hit Headwaters kayak)

Welcome to NCKA.  Pacific Outfitters in Eureka just had their big yardsale last week where they had some Predators and other solid yaks for big discounts.  I don't think they sold all of what they were offering - you might go check that out.

I guide all Humboldt waters, so hit me up if you want to learn the ropes on salmon at Shelter Cove or steelhead on the Eel.

Say what?! Gah! There is a West Marine in Redding so that would be my closest store. If they throw it up on sale in the next month or so it'll be worth it for me to drive there. I'll keep an eye out. I won't be ordering my yak until just before the week of my finals. I don't want myself getting too distracted!  :smt003

I was at Pacific Outfitters during the sale at the one in Eureka. Bought a few things, but no yak. While I do love them, I'm also trying to get my yak for the lowest price possible.

I know you do man! I just recently subbed to your YouTube channel. Your videos are quality! I must have watched over half of them already haha. I'm looking forward to more!
