So had a business trip to San Diego this week. Had the choice to drive or fly, drive it was so I could bring a rod, some tackle and get payed for the drive. Win Win. Get down here Sunday and spend Sunday afternoon tending to work stuff. Monday my after noon schedule was free so headed the the beach a round 4 pm. Hit Ocean Beach first, Winds up, surf is big, people and dogs everywhere.  Managed one small Barred Surf Perch before calling it quits there. Headed to South Mission Beach next and stayed till dark for nada. Had a long lunch Tuesday, so ran back down to Ocean Beach to check it out. High wind and surf advisory.  Waves are touching the bottom of the Pier. Tuesday evening had dinner on the Air Craft Carrier " Midway ". Very cool ship and had an awesome time. So today had the afternoon open so headed to South Mission Beach again to fish the inside of the jetty into the bay. Didn't disappoint, three new fish species for me. Calico Bass which I caught a couple dozen, a Spotted Sand Bass, and best of all was a California Barracuda,  awesome! What a way to finish a work trip.

You nailed two calicos on one lure?!  crazy!  they must've been thick.  I haven't fished for them since they had a 12 inch size limit.  now its like 14 or something

Nice!

I've eaten those Calicos before, they make pretty good fish tacos.

Thanks for the fish porn.

Awesome,I knew I should've brought my gear last time I was down that way
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

Common thing on the fly down there. I usually throw a triple rig. I love fish the bay's and the surf down south. There are even bonefish in San Diego bay.
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!
