Was looking at buying older Lowrance units (discontinued HDI only) and came across this newer one.  Is this a screamin' deal? I believe comes with Maps and Transducer?  Seems to be the same price as some non-chirp models...
I was actually looking at the 4-4x series as my buddy just bought one and spent around 3 hundo as well

It actually doesn't show the price on amazon and gives a disclaimer that it won't show prices that are out of line with the average until you put it in your cart, $299.99.

Also, for the Lowrance folks in the house, I think I see this model included in the rebate list on the Lowrance site, making it $250... any reason it wouldn't?

Good deal and yes it does qualify for the rebate. You have to check the item model # on Amazon, then look at the part number on that rebate list. In this case, 000-11655-001.

Doesn't look like it includes extra map chip but the unit is pre-loaded with a fairly good basemap to begin with & extra map chips (if you desire to add later) can be purchased at any time.

Thanks Cure,

So basically the package you see there is the Elite 5 with the newest tech being "Chirp", loaded with maps (just for basic tracking of a few honey hole waypoints), and a transducer suitable for a yak?

Also, I see you send in UPC code for the rebate, is there any case in which it's a qualifying model, but for some case the UPC isn't covered by Lowrance?

anything "fishy"?  haha

Thanks

odog

All the current Lowrance models starting at the Hook 4 & larger are CHIRP units.  There was a change to the name of the series in 2016 so this is just last years version equal to this years model of the 'Hook 5' at a lower price.  The transducer should be fine.  Was the same one I had in my last kayak & will be the same transducer I most likely install in my new kayak.  Looks like a great deal.  Pat is correct ... the best way to verify qualification of rebate is to look at the Lowrance P/N & check that it is on the rebate form.  This smae method is also the best way to verify you are buying what you think you are buing.  I have come across a number of online sellers that list what the unit "can" do. not what it "will" do out of the box ... meaning it "can" do certain things IF you buy it with a certain transducer.  This once you listed, I believe, sait it includes the 83/200/455/800 (regular 83/200 Med/High CHIRP and DownScan imaging on the 455/800 freq.)

Looks like the HOOK models are NOT eligible for rebates. Don't see it in the forms....

Thier maps look pretty good too.

I believe the rebate does not include the Hook Series

I wanted to add that this deal comes with the Navionics Gold maps.

Here is a good post reviewing the base maps vs the Navionics maps.

Spend the extra $50 and get the 5" model, you won't regret it. As for the Nav map card, It's nice but I never use mine. I just make my own. 2cents.
