I'll throw in a plug here for PowerPro's Super Slick 8 braid.  Over the last few years I've been getting more into using braid for various applications.  But the NOISE that typical braid makes drives me crazy, especially for freshwater fishing.  That buzzing/whining noise braid makes when being reeled in tight to the guides is no bueno for my freshwater fishing.  I want things to be as quiet as possible when I'm fishing freshwater.

In comes Super Slick 8.  I bought it last spring because it was advertised as being quieter than normal braid.  After using it for about a year now, I must say I am VERY impressed with it.  I have 10 pound Super Slick 8 rigged on both my medium-action plugging rod and my light-action jigging rod, along with a 10-15 foot fluoro top shot.  Absolutely zero complaints.  Super Slick 8 runs through the guides just as quietly as mono.  All of my normal knots are agreeable with it.  The line color fades relatively quickly with use, but frankly I could care less about the color of my braid so that's a non-issue for me.  The line proved plenty strong for battling catfish and stripers up to 15 pounds, and is quiet enough for shallow-water brown trout trolling applications.  And it casts a mile, just like most braids.

Granted, I've only used the 10 pound Super Slick and do not have experience with the heavier lines, and have not used it in heavy cover to know about its abrasion resistance.  That being said, I highly recommend it for freshwater applications and anytime you want a stealthy approach combined with the benefits of braid.
