Take wheel weights and an additional percentage or two of Tin by weight. Melt, cast and then heat treat. Use as medium velocity projectiles for fun and/or profit.

John, I've personally lost very few considering my water time but everything I buy winds up community property and loss, I write it off as operating cost. I just can't go on a trip without picking up a few bars. I've wisened up a bit though, the cheapo bars fish no different than the expensive ones once the hooks are swapped for a better one.  Until I find something that works better on rockies and lings I won't use anything less than a big treble.

So it looks like bass pro shops has their own 'offshore angler' branded jigs, even one that comes with two assist hooks.

prices look okay.  they got 'em in 4 and 5 inches and 3.5 to 6 oz.

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

I picked up some of these in 5 and 7oz at ISE San Mateo.

They look well made and have a glow in the dark undercoat and a holographic look similar to Megabait. Megabait live jigs are also my all time favorite iron jig.I've been buying all the the Megas I've found and hoarding them.
I tried assist hooks with mixed success.I don't really see an advantage over trebles when bottom fishing because they tend to flutter above the lure on the drop and I've missed quite a few strikes that way.
To avoid losing irons I've been using bronze trebles that tend to bend and can be jigged out of snags and replaced.I've never had one of the 4/0 bronze trebles bend in the mouth of +25# lings and they work great when picked up on the drop.
