Hello All,

After having my car break down i am on a budget and need to stay close to home.  My new car does not have a roof rack so i am going to put the foam pads on top of the car until i can afford a roof rack.  Therefore, I can not travel too far.  I currently live in Modesto and have always wondered about the fishing off the San Joaquin and the Tuolomne river.  I often see people riding there bikes with fishing poles and assume they are fishing at one of those two rivers.   I beleive that it is bass, catfish, and carp.  Does anyone have any tips or suggestions on the river or how to catch the species that live in it?  Any tips or advice would be great.

Hope everyone is having a good day!

Zach

send a pm to Jeffrm20.  he's the man for those sections.  I used to fish them as well, but not anymore.  I also used to go to mcclure and the merced river above crocker hoffman, but i imagine the merced river is real low right now.  turlock lake inlet used to be one of my favorite spots, but I don't know if its free anymore, I haven't been there in years and i think they did some work on it.

Don Pedro, McClure, or Turlock lake are decent options nearby too.

Zach we fish Pedro a couple weeks ago. I caught one small mouth but my buddy caught three nice large mouths under the bridge. They were deep and very lethargic. I am in Los Banos.

check out Fox Grove Park in Modesto area to launch and fish the Tuolumne river...though I think the rivers closed on October 31st for fishing and doesnt open back up till January.
