I am looking to get some pants for kayaking in wet conditions in the cold. Summer time I wear shorts. So I have 125 bucks credit at West Marine and saw these. Any one of you guys have them? Know about them? One pair 75 bucks the other 130 I could get either so what you guys know?

Grundens are the bomb for foul weather gear on a boat (pants or the bibs). But they wouldn't really work on a kayak because the foot part is open. You want something that has built-in feet/booties. Or at least elastic waterproof pant cuffs that prevent water from going up your leg. You'd be happier with either paddling pants (or dry pants) or even waders. I've considered getting some wait-high waders because they'd be like dry pants but also more versatile than full chest waders. Then I got the Kokatat Tempest pants...highly recommended. But I understand what ya mean about wanting to buy at WM if you have a gift card.

Edit: I see that some of the newer Grundens pants DO have a velcro cuff that you can tighten. That may help keep some of the water out, which is good. But not as good as elastic cuffs or something similar.

The problem with waist-length waders is that while they'll keep some water out - which is good - there is no broad waistband to seal them at the waist and the water will pour in - and that's not good at all.

They're better than nothing, but if you end up in the water, they're not much better.
