I will come by tomorrow as well.  Going to cut out early though.  Have to clean up and down to peninsula by 11:45.  Looking forward to this.  Always wanted to see how others are strapping the traps down.

I would like to thank Isao and Josiah, two awesome NCKA members, who took it upon themselves to offer up a crabbing clinic today at Baker Beach. For free, to anyone who showed up!

After only joining this forum about a month ago, this was my first opportunity to meet some of you. I'm so impressed with the quality of the people that I had the pleasure of meeting today. It only functioned to reinforce the tone that seems ever present on this site. That is one of sharing knowledge in a respectful manner ( even to new guys like me). I felt like I was welcomed into a brotherhood of new and future friends.

These two fishermen gave a fantastic and generous gift of their time, and knowledge of kayak crabbing. They covered the best kinds of boats for surf launching (and how to get one inexpensively, secondhand), how to rig and secure your gear, thoughts on their strategies for laying a string of pots, safety on the water, and tips on surf launching and landing.

Isao gave us a demonstration of launching and landing, that should have been recorded for textbook use!

It was great also to meet Herb(ling-a-ding), Eugene and Jake, and Jeremy. I'm looking forward to the Derby coming up on the 7th. I'm looking forward to putting names and faces together. I hope I get to meet you there.

I can only hope that one day I'll be able to make a meaningful contribution to some future anglers like Isao and Josiah did for me today.

Cheers!
Jim

Thanks for the super nice write up Jim,

We are stoked you guys came, and hope to see you at the derby!

p.s.
Glad the launch looked good, what you guys did not see was me sitting on my paddle leash and almost not being able to make it out! :smt004

Aloha,

Isao
