The tide is low in the evening this week and weekend and I may try some pokepoling around PG Saturday afternoon.  I never did it before but while I was out on December 30, there looked to be some good spots near Coral St.  Let me know if you are interested.

Hi Etienne!

Lovers Cove is a good spot for pokepoling.  I saw 2 guys there sometime ago get a bucket full of monkey eels.  And they said that they also get cabs there too.

Good luck!

Man, if I only live in Seaside, I'll be fishing in Monterey a lot like you! :smt001

Thanks for the tip.  I hope the swell lays down by tomorrow.  Lovers is so close to Coral St. I should be able to hit them both.  I still need to pick up an 07 license.

Hey Etienne - I might be out on Saturday.  If I see you poke poling I'll say hello or maybe even do some fishing.  You might want to try poke poling the rocks just around Pt Pinos . .there are lots of places to poke.  I have a feeling like there are some big cabbies in those rocks and I've been meaning to try it there . .maybe Sat!  Good luck and let us know how you do.

Etienne,
I'm going shore rockfishing with a couple buddies tomorrow. Secret spot. Send me a PM if you want to go. Chris, are you gonna go?
The large swell may make it difficult to climb out too far on the rocks. I've been monitoring it all week. Right now its 6-11ft but it is trending downward (would be perfect on Wednesday!) At least the wind will settle down some, only 5-10kts by tomorrow.
This spot would be good for pokepoling too. I just prefer to use a rod+reel.

Good luck,
PK
