Took advantage of my day off today and went out to the dunes in search of some stripers. Fished for about 5 hours for a total of  6 small perch and 2 baby stripers on sand crabs. Sorry for the short report, here's some pics of the stripers and the biggest perch I caught  :smt006

Solid work Andres!!! I've been wanting to hit the surf for awhile and was wondering if there were still any stripers around. Thanks for the report

Nice took up. I am thinking of going to the Dune during the Holiday. Any advice for newbie.  Were you bait acting or just cast and wait?  Also, wbat part of Dune were you picking those up?  I think the Dune came group where we have to pay and the Salmon Creek l, we don't have too. If you don't mind sharing. This is would be my first time out for surf fishing.

Thank you, Andreas.

Yeah no problem bro  there's stripers out there still I caught a 25 incher today and released 2 undersized ones. There's a lot of seaweed though which gets pretty annoying patience pays off though. Hi Shimano I think you might be confusing the sand dunes in marina with other dunes but I'm pretty sure you can catch them the same way. I use soft shell sand crabs on Carolina rig just cast and wait always have tight line though so you can set the hook right away. Try to cast in holes or rip currents good luck

Dude nice work! I've heard rumors about a hot bite here in town, but haven't got on it yet. Maybe this wknd.

Shimano, he's talking about Monterey bay...about 4 hours south of Bodega dunes campground.

Thank you, Cen cost.  That is quite far from Santa Rosa.  I might hit up the Benicia or Lawson landing this weekend.

i'm so hooked on kayak fishing that it is consuming all my free fishing time.  Before that I mainly fish in the surf for striper and surf perch.
on Monday with the bad ocean condition I did hit the beach and saw 2 pretty huge striper being carried back to the parking lot. I had to learn how to fish in the surf again. locating trough and rip current and reading the waves and such. your post makes me want to take a break from yak and feel the freedom to play in the water.
