BIG points for BigJim if you manage to land him & get him on the trough

Just jig one of these on a 9/0 circle hook (got ya Jim!). And whatever you do don't grab him by the hand....

A few years ago the stripers were running along the Capitola and NB coastline.  The stripers attacked the bait on top and the halibut on the Bottom outside the surf zone. I made sardines and anchovies for bait and fly lined them right outside the breakers. When the stripers hit, you got to let hem fully take the bait cause they tend to mouth the bait before swallowing it. Ah good times....Haven't seen a NB/Capitola bite in some time. --Keith

My biggest ocean striper came on a halibut rig off sea bright beach. It was promptly donated to a seal.

I tried fly lining a live sardine in Capitola for stripers and all I caught was a diving Pelican.  Tried to take the hook of him but got to close to the breaker and had to just cut most of the line.  When the bait is there close there are lots of birds who want to eat your bait so put a little weight on it so it does not float up where they can easily get it.
