Braid to a spro barrel swivel to mono leader (3 or 4ft).

This is all I use. I suck at tying knots. :smt012

Uni to Uni or double Uni is all I ever needed otw. Like scott said, you'll be fine with that up here, but down south for pelagics you want a better knot. going straight braid for frog fishing is the only exception.  I don't know about you, but I wouldn't wanna get snagged with straight braid in the ocean,  on the yak, with swells and wind.= recipe for disaster. And cutting it is like throwing money away at $24 for a 150yd spool. Tying braid to a swivel yea works, but you'll benefit more if you learned how to tie a good mono to braid knot. No need to buy swivels and extra topshot let's you retie lures/baits a lot faster. Just my opinion.

You guys are talking Mono. Would you use the same knots for fluorocarbon line?

uni to uni 8 wraps on the braid. five on the flouro. One advantage of tying a snap to the end of the mainline is you can quickly change out leaders depending on the weight line you want to use on the leader. Or quickly add a three way to drift a fly above your jig. All previously tied. Bottom fishing with straight braid and abrading against rocky structure will part your line. Quickly. I use 30 lb power pro for the main and 30lb blue label seaguar for the topshot......... If I can not free a snag  and I have to break off, I wrap the braid around the fish club 3-4 times reel down vertically and lift. This is another advantage of braid on the main instead of mono. No stretch equals easy break at the knot. I also always tie a duolock to the terminal end to change out swimbaits quickly.

Same thing for me.  Just I'm cheap and usually use the Fluoro for tying up leaders.  My usual setup for line for all ocean fishing: 30LB Green PowerPro, 6-8Ft topshot of 25LB Berkely Big Game Mono, Weight if needed, Snap Swivel, then attach a lure or leader. I like doing the Carolina Rig for almost all bait fishing / drift fishing, so I use 1, 2, and 3 oz egg weights.
