The only thing a tourney does for me is get me OTW in the dark.
Not because I care about winning, I have way more stuff than I need already, I just don't want to be caught in the cluster**** at the launch.
The only reason I go is to see friends I haven't seen in a while, or maybe because of logistics, only get to see once a year.

We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.

I want to stay as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all kinds of things you can't see from the center.

People aren’t supposed to look back. I’m certainly not going to do it anymore.”

I love tournament fishing. Did years as a bass guy and love the kayak ones. But I have honestly got to a point where watching some else catch a fish is just as fun as catching a fish myself.

Once the fun is gone I will stop, and I hope that does never comes.

Tight lines!!!
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!

I don't often enter competitions, but when I do it's so I can trash talk.  :smt004

LOL!! Don't make me dig up some of your trash talking threads from the 1st DOTY...I think you referred to yourself as King Kong?

Ahh yes.  I remember now.  I watched "Training Day" starring Denzel Washington while I was posting.  Good movie.

That was a great tourney.  I totally would have done better if I'd gotten in the water just once.  :smt044

For me to win a tourney would be like the blind squirrel finding a nut.

A fish would have to be suicidal for me to win.  I pretty much stink at it.  But I do like to fish!  Beats out just anything else I could be doing.  Just about.....

I have entered most local SC or Monterey events, won a few. I am not a very competitive guy though I do like a little trash talk. All raise money for some worthy cause and hanging with like minded yak fishers is great. So I say to all, kick a few bucks to a good cause, have some fun fishing and if you get lucky, win a prize. Other than that, chill out and enjoy the day

Hey Jim when you start getting stressed out, think about the hotlinks on the lake shore :smt002

And you still won!!!!

Them hotlinks might be your lucky charm.

OK, I will bring some if I know you are coming to an event, Lol!

I'm right there with you man. Although I've never cared about winning or losing really. I've spent nearly all my vacation time up on tourneys since 2009 and neglecting stuff I shouldn't. No more of that. No GS this year for me and probably no Albion and definitely no freshwater anything. Just going to fish with my crew when the wx says I should.

This bums me out.  :smt009

My sentiments exactly.
So I'm packing my bags for the Misty Mountains, where the spirits go...........

Glad you started this post Ron. Good for you. Both you and me need a break.  :smt001
I came to that realization, except with boating. I have had boats for decades and kayaks for about 7 yrs now that require much attention and upkeep.
It has really taken a lot out of me and I am now more ready for the chill.
I think what I really need is more connection with The Family and friends that I miss !!!!!!
Unfortunately my immediate Family is  not as much the outdoors person that I am.

Don't get me wrong. Definitely not out of the Game. Just feel that I need some family connection time at the moment.

See ya on the lawn chairs next time.  :smt003
