I need an old dive board. I am working on a concept for duck hunting next year. Going to combine spear fishing with waterfowl! I plan on building a piece on the front to store ammo and ducks, veg up and go TO the ducks and shoot em! Pretty hardcore,  but I think it will take the thrill of the hunt up a notch or two.

Anyhow, if you have one laying around that is needing to go let me know!

I built one out of a boogie board, rifle slings, zip ties and some fastening hardware.

That will work too. With a wetsuit on, you will be mostly kicking behind, this would mostly be your platform for "Stuff". And your attachment point for the "Butt Strap" safety harness for your shotgun. Might be a good way to break BigJim into above-water hunting! Evolution of man, right before my eyes! Then all we gotta do is watch Zilla with tools, and we cover 15K years of man in one afternoon!

Is your shot gun water proof?  Everything falls off those boards.  The board will capsize too.

No, gun is ok to get wet, going to have a pvc frame wrapped in pool noodles making a "U" shape towards the front and a cross brace to each side.  Wont be able to flip it, it will have outriggers so to speak.

When I first read this I thought you were nuts but then I remembered we're in California!  Having spent most of my life in the South East United States my immediate thought was Gator Bait!!!  You'd look like a big old topwater plug to an alligator!

This would be kind of like the old school body booting technique.  For body booting you put out a spread of goose floaters and stood in a wetsuit behind an oversized goose silhouette that had brackets on the back and a shelf to hold your shells and gun.  It was a popular technique around the Susquehana River up in Maryland back in the old days.

Yeah, pretty sure wouldn't catch on in the gulf states for that very reason! A lot likebody booting yeah. But more of a sneak method on a flock of sitting birds on open water.
There were several guys body booting in the delta this year. They did ok! I am thinking after kayaking in and setting up half doz decoys, then paddle around and jump shoot birds, or go to the open water where they sit, beach the yak in the tules and put the sneak on them. Or just go to a place and make a day out of playing tule ninja.

Just buy a scull boat already. This is the worst idea I have ever heard. Be sure to have a big dive flag attached to it so you don't get killed by fisherman under full power. This idea is so moronic I think a judge would find you at fault.

Lol, that's why it is genius. Nobody will "take your spot" because not many have the balls to do it. Not as dangerous as you make it sound, you dont cross big water, kayak across, and skirt the edges.
Most of the places I go, there are no boats, and or other hunters. Takes too much effort to do what I do and most people want to be home in time to catch the game!

I like it. Why wait for the ducks to come to you? Now you can go after them!
