Great meeting you James and fishing AB.

Place is great...although next time vs camping in December.... I'd be tempted to get a hotel especially when you factor in2nd car price.

But facilities were great like cleaning station, clean hot showers and bathroom.

chilling with everyone by the campsites is the best.

Despite equipment failures....I had a great 3days..caught some crab and a few fish.. Going out Monday in that killer wind w/o my Mirage drive was tough...thanks to Kenjan and Hobiedave for covering me and ensuring I got back in. My drysuit has a leak somewhere and coupled with that cold wind...I had a mild dose of hypothermia...
Teeth were chattering and my body was acting funky when I made it off the beach...it was slightly disconcerting..

Anyway....great seeing good peeps and sharing good food ...awesome way to close out the year.

Dave

AB did not disappoint.......we knew that Chick-cove was gonna be dicey on the come back in, but we were up to the challenge. Not landing in the surf zone was a good choice we made. Not securing EVERYTHING down, when wading through the shorebreak was a bad choice. None the less it was a great day and campout!
Hearing about the GWS being out at the N.Rocks when returning to camp was a bit unnerving and if i had heard of such a sighting over the radio, i would have bailed without question.
I again tried to avoid the bottom dwelling Lings, but they just had to have my little 831tackle swimbait. Biggest ling went 28" and I did get to finish the year with some of that color I always seek and release!!

It was GREAT to be out and up in that area of the coast in that 2 days of laid down weather. We got to play on the pacific shorelines, in our fishing kayaks, all the way up to the last day!!

Hope to see you all in the very near future!!

Had a good time @ AB despite the lack of sand at the launch, running the gauntlet to Chicken cove, the rough water conditions, or the near freezing temps in the a.m. :smt003. Still managed 2 lings and 4 rockies in less than 2 hours of fishing. It was a nice ending to the year, good to see / meet you all at the cove.

WHOA!  Where'd all the sand at the ramp go?   :smt009  On a high tide, the trek to chicken can be interesting.

On a high tide like ken jan and I hit @8:00 AM the waves were breaking on the cliffs, might have been easier to brave the surf launch. I'm sure glad I had everything tied down tight , stepped in a hole on the way out and went down, by the time I jumped back up my wheeleezs were pulled off by a rock that the wave bounced my kayak against  :smt011, I will NOT be trying that again !

I wonder if that will be a problem for the tourney.

Where did the sand go... It was crazy to see it last Sunday. I was with Gary - BullShark and we had two newbs with us so there was going to be no surf launching. With daylight burning we regrettably left and raced back to TC to join Raydon and a few others. I spoke with the campground maintenance guy and he said it happens every year and the sand slowly returns.  :smt003

Sounds like the fishing was good as usual.

Was a great time seeing everyone. That missing sand was crazy and the surf on Sunday was by far the worst. Everyday after that the conditions seemed to get better and New Years eve was again dead flat OTW and the launch was just as easy as it was launching out of chicken cove.

Saw some cool stuff while there. Several leopard sharks inside chicken cove, elephant seal beached, a pod of orcas hunting and attacking seals.

Already have site reserved for 12-26-15 to 1-3-16.

So maybe this explains the possible GWS sighting ? Wish we could have stayed a few more days, the drive back on the 31st the ocean looked like lake Pacific and we saw several whales and one that even breached !, may have to make res. for this year also.
