Any brine that includes sugar (I prefer light brown for chicken, turkey, pork loin) will give you all that great flavor you expect from brined meat plus beautiful, crispy skin. But damn, that sweet and spicy chicken looked reallllyyyyy good.

Remember to practice safe knots, because big fish don't just break your line, they also break your heart.

i usually dont use something too heavy, also try using 7up or lemonade for a lemon chicken taste. or orange juice if you have a reusable beer can cooker.

Ok, I'm definitely the odd man out here. I still call mine beer can chicken, but that is a loose interpretation. Since you will never find a canned beer around my house, it is most likely a soda can with the top cut off. And I fill it half way with red wine. Then add lots of herbs from the garden to the can. Rub the chicken with some olive oil and a spice rub. Has been a popular staple at my place for years.

That actually sounds really good - I'll have to give it a try.
