I made my first attempt at trolling for lings this morning .. launched from Lover's Point and paddled off towards Pt Pinos dragging a Yozuri Deep Diving Crystal Minnow about 4 feet behind a 4oz banana sinker.

Conditions were very flat at the launch and quickly worsened the closer I got to the Pt.  Eventually there were white caps breaking in my lap so I decided to pull up and head back.  I snagged my lure on something and reached over in a wierd way just as a big white cap rolled under me.  After my little swim I took an inventory . .lost nothing!  That was lucky because both my tackle boxes were loose in the crate - the bungies that hold the crate in place must've held them in.  I did lose my lure, though . .never did get it unsnagged.  That was my first flip-over that was not for practice and I have to say I was very happy with the way it went . .if I had wanted to I could've kept on fishing for the day.

If I can . .I'm gonna go shore fishing for lings in PG this afternoon.  There is a great tide ~5ft @12:30 to ~.05 feet at 5pm.  November is THE month to catch lings from shore (but it's still hard).

Cool on the easy re-entry.  Randy had a surprise a couple of months ago and was back in the boat before I realized he was in the water........... :smt107 :smt081

That is the set up we used in Alaska and I got no ling love there either.  Tom seems to be the ling trowling master.

Don't get washed off those rocks.  That link that John GuineaPig posted for waves shows major breakers forecast for Asilomar this weekend.

Good try!
And good job on the self rescue!
But I've never heard of such a thing as a "skunk" while yak-fishing in SW. Worst day I had there was 28 fish...[insert bragging icon here] LOL!

Did your dad go with you this time?

yeah .. it's been slow lately . . nothing like the smackdown we enjoyed all summer long.  I keep expecting the lings to show up inshore but so far they are not cooperating, either.
