Saltwater- 6-8', line ratings from 10# to 50#. Most important thing is to have a selection of rods for drifting, trolling and jig fishing. I like glass rods for all but jigging. Agree with GB2 that the fuji concept alconites are the go to for guides. Butt length is personal preference but a long and short butt option would be nice. Also consider cord handles/deckhand style grip. I prefer cord to any other grip and enjoy the ability to move the reel to any position I prefer.

Nope cord. Like tuna cord, seine twine ect. I use seeker butt cord myself with a 30" grip. When installed it's solid so all vibrations are felt very easily. Also comes out of the rod holder real smooth.

Ok, just wanted to make sure it wasn't a typo.  I'm familiar with what you refer to.

Large arbor cork grips can float a light rod and reel without the need of additional foam. I use 12" rear cork grips with an aluminum gimble on all of my saltwater rods. The cork provides floatation and is easy to get out of rod holder. The 12" rear grip gives you good leverage for tossing iron and you can put the butt in your armpit when pulling on big fish. Gimbles are nice when are fishing with your rod in a holder. A leash attachment is nice and the way they did it on the Baidarka was cool but I don't like the look of split grips. Your main competition in the under $120 range will be the MHX kits from Mudhole so you can use them to look at price points.

The kayak guys in Hawaii use a lot of spinning tackle so having versions for both would be good.

Just wanted to thank everyone again for the info on this informal 'rod survey'.  I have gathered the info and forwarded on to the head of this up-and-coming.  If I get my hands on a prototype, I'll be sure to bring it out for others to play with too... :smt002
