Tried to get my daughters out on a tandem last Sunday with the main goal of getting my youngest more comfy on the yak AND ideally to catch her first fish.

Plan A didn't work cuz road was closed for a golf tourney. No worries, off to Plan B.

Plan B looked doable...but honestly not the flat calm I wanted to have both girls out on the yak with me.

Saw Sackyak and chaeki and chatted with them for a bit, and then went to Plan C and cruised over to a beach I know that is always beautiful even if you don't go out on the yak.

Had the whole beach to ourselves, Jayme approved of the softness of the sand (she said it was too rough at the first spot :smt005) and Valentina wanted to play in the breakers on the shore...

I spent a lot of time with her showing her how at this particular beach the breakers hit hard and the beach is steep and the water sucks back out pretty strong so you need to be aware of your footing and be ready to retreat  etc...

Once I felt comfy that she was good (extra safety provided by full wetsuit and brand new Kokatat PFD courtesy of the Kayak Connection tourney) I spent time with Jayme playing in the sand.

We spent hours there just playing and laughing and having fun.

Will try again this week to get Jayme on the yak and to get her first fish.

Looks like it would have been a interesting surf launch.  Good time though!  Way to go!

One of my favorite spots in the world right there. Looks like fun times!  ...but yeah that can be a gnarly spot to play in the surf, for sure!

Nice Jim! I used to live 2 blocks from there and launched and dove that beach many times.
My brother and i would walk down the street in our wetsuits carrying fins and guns and hand out
fresh fish to our neighbors on the way back.It can get really big there, careful! Just a tip...

My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

That is just awesome my friend.
Way to turn the day around. Nothing like some quality time with the kiddos.
Cute kids btw.

Thanks guys!!

Yeah PK and Dreamcatcher I know how powerful those waves can be there...from first hand experience.  :smt009 :smt005

The waves on the other side of the headland over by Copper Roof were much smaller but there was a bunch of kelp washed up on shore and in water at shore break so decided to play over at CRSB instead since it was so clean and beautiful.

If it had been any rougher I wouldn't have let Valentina play in the water even with her PFD on, but as it was it was perfect for her...she likes the waves...took her over at Moss landing the other day and she and I were getting pounded out there together and was teaching her how and when to duckdive under etc...

This Sunday it should be calm enough to try and get both girls out on yak with me.  :smt003

nice spot for sure Jim!
I've been whomped there before  :smt005

Nice to get the kids out & around the water even on a not-so-perfect day. makes for good perspective & motivation to get out when it IS nice and calm.
