No luck at all last year. But here's this weeks harvest.
The green guys in the middle - padrons or shishitos ?

Nice harvest either way ! I didn't plant any this year (first time in a decade plus) so I'm walking around with garden envy this year.

Did you know that peppers are actually perennials?  This means you can over-winter them.  I bring this up because you grew them in pots, meaning you can move them to a warmer winter area and keep them going until next season.  You'll have an even better harvest next year as the plant is already established.

Yup.  My customer had his on planters and on top of dollies and would roll them in the garage whenever there was frostbite danger.  He had fruits in April.

I have some that have naturally over wintered, without me doing anything.  For the pepper plants I have this year, I'm just going prune them back, add a big mound of mulch over them and see what happens next spring.

+1

That'll work like a champ. A good mound of loose straw around the pruned back plant is usually sufficient to insulate it from the cold temps but also allow air flow and for rain to percolate through. I have several big rocoto/manzano pepper plants that have survived three winters and theu put on more and more growth/peppers each successive summer now.

If you'd possibly care to part with a few Carolina Reaper seeds, let me know. I'd love to try growing them next year.

Tasty indeed, especially when you pick them small. I like to slice a little slit in the side, stuff in a little piece of manchego cheese (and sometimes even a little bit of thinly sliced spanish ham), toss them in olive oil and then onto the grill for a minute or so. A sprinkle of salt when they come off the grill and talk about heaven.
