I posted my trip in hookup section and got no reply. So I went ahead alone. Willow creek is often for surfers. Often it is not calm. By the time I got, it was 8:30. Ocean is calm, flat and glassy - an awesome day. :smt001

I saw two kayaks fishing around rocks at the south. I met them later and found out they managed to get a ling each. I launched and paddled to the north. After 15-minute paddling, I saw a decent structure from FF. I dropped a line and started jigging. Not longer I got a hit and felt a good size of fish. After landing it, it was 30" ling. This was he 1st drop.

In 2nd drop, I got another good hit. My rod rattled crazy. I pulled the fish up slowly and saw a bigger ling. By time I got my net, the fish got shake off and unbuttoned. Ouch...  :smt010

In only 10 minutes I got 2 lings hit. It was going to be a hot day - I thought. However, bites just stopped. I paddled around the area and fished a lot more. Bites were not there anymore.  :smt012 Finally, into 2 hours of fishing, i managed to land another ling 27".

I saw an octopus in its mouth. I then sent octopus back to water. From that point on, bites went nuts. It was hard to keep RF off hook - One fish after another. I landed 5 reds and 2 coppers. A good day became a great day. Thank Octopus!  :smt008

2 lings - the picture is taken from lawn, not on water. Camera was left at home.

double-tail scampi with 4 oz jig head. I tried both light and dark colors, both seems produce.

When it is nice down there it is great.  Nice fish.
Saltwater is the cure for everything that ails us,
sweat, tear or the sea.
