Could be wrong, but I don't think he was insinuating that those were fish that were caught recently, but rather just some nice fish that he's caught at Spring Lake using the tactics he described in the earlier post.

Chattich's correct....Caught several years ago...just sharing tactics and where to fish. The creek channel is THE place to target trophy bass. They lay on the bottom and ambush trout that swim by.Wishing all my brothers on here...and great fishing life...Loco4Ab's San Pablo Res. has huge bass as well...here's a few pics from there.

I'm with both of you guys...Spring Lake was a great fishing place for all (Kids and Big Kids)...Sonoma County needs to spend some time, clearing out the brush along the lake. It's way to overgrown. There are still HUGE bass in there..!

I actually like it overgrown along the bank at Spring Lake and it still has some bank access also! Last weekend someone got a ~8 lb fish out of there (27" is what they said) and if you had to much bank access you'd get people lined up bait fishing taking every fish they catch home to eat (like strip mining) :smt010 It's happen at a couple other place around here like the lake at Fountain Grove!I personally would like to see spawning fish C&R during that time it would protect the genetics of the bigger fish that are spawning also. Correct me if I wrong!

I too like the banks being somewhat overgrown.  The lake gets plenty of boat fishing pressure in those grown up areas and the added pressure of bank fishermen around the whole lake would be pretty intense.

Also, the establishment of a slot limit for keeping fish would allow the larger fish to thrive while still keeping the population in check and allowing folks to provide fish for the table.  I saw these a lot in Florida where bass between 12"-16" were allowed to be kept but the bigger fish had to be released.  In some cases one fish over the slot could be kept per person per day for trophy purposes.  Texas also has a similar program on Lake Fork and that place is an amazing fishery!
