I heard that Spring Lake had plenty of action last Sunday with some really nice bass being caught in the shallows. Today I saw a couple 12 inchers caught but I never had a single grab. Maybe next time.    :smt006

I've only fished it a few times but with all the pressure that place gets I think the trick is thinking outside the box.  Choosing lures and tactics that the fish aren't getting pounded with day in and day out will put a few fish in the boat.

My last day there my son and I had fairly steady action while no one around us was doing anything.  If it weren't for two break offs due to bad line I would have had a pretty impressive five fish stringer that would have weighed around 18lbs or so.

Did some shore fishing there after work,  caught this 2+ pounder out there and a little tiny guy in about 1.5 hrs of fishing. Both caught right up near the bank,  they are definitely starting to move up for the spawn. Saw one little guy guarding his spot for sure. Pretty much all I have been fishing are plastics, both worms and creature baits. Been having the best luck with watermelon colors so far.
Still haven't caught one of the spring lake monsters yet that everyone talks about,  probably caught 40 fish out of there,  and haven't had anything over 3 lbs.

These two came from Spring Lake a couple weekends ago.  They were both on the bank even though the water temps were around 58 degrees.

How's your trailer working out for you and have you taken your new PA to Lake Sonoma yet? Looks like you got the 14' also?

Last Saturday I pulled this monster our of spring lake on a 3/8 Zman Chatter Bait (dark green) right off the reeds.  Later I pulled in an almost 4lb'r in about 12 in of water.  I kept seeing her fin breaking the top of the water and threw a plastic Tattle Tail (also dark green) worm at her.  One shake and she hammered the thing!

Yep, I got the 14 and the trailer works like a charm. I haven't been up to Lake Sonoma yet. I've got vacation next week and looking for a possible trip to San Pablo Bay on Tuesday. Maybe the lake a couple of days after that. Have you been anywhere else?

Glad you like your set up! I went to Clear Lake, Lake Sonoma with the kayak and a few local ponds/lakes I fished from the bank. I've been toying with going to Lake Hennessey with the kayak again!! I went out today I had just got my kayak in the water and was tying on a bait before getting in and taking off when I decide to cast at a swirl and boom on 3rd cast hook a 4.63 lb LM at the boat launch, LOL! :smt001

I fish with large trout swim baits in the creek channel...that runs from the north end of the lake and circles the big island south. It varies from 18 ft to 12 ft...electronics are a must.

Took a lazy, post-lunch walk around around lake Saturday afternoon. Lots and lots of fishermen on the water but not much being caught from what I could see. Did see a nice bass (guessing in the 4lb. ballpark) caught just north of the boat launch though. Otherwise, pretty quiet.

Saw a couple nice yellow Hobies going in the water as we passed the launch and wondered if they were NCKA folks.

Nice fish, loco for abs, I was there and saw very little, you are either very lucky or an expert.
I used to catch the planted trout, a few years back, that were in the creek channel from the island to the point I call the  Cormorant Perch. Caught more fish than we could eat!  :smt003
It's great to see a fellow NCKA have so much fun! I only wish I was one of them... :smt006
