Kevin and I hit Berry for a little pre derby recon.  We launched our yaks at Oak Shores at 7 and went on the hunt for koks.  The WX was stellar.  We stayed in the Big Island area all day.  I drew first blood with a 14 inch kok.  I made a turn and ran through the area again and 15 minutes later another 14 incher was in the net.  Kevin found a large trout that wanted to play and soon had him in the net.  That concluded the catching part of our day.  All the fish came between 11 and 12 noon.  Best depth was 12 feet.  The lures were all different colors/types.  We ended the day at 1 PM with the 3 fish.  Water temp started at 61* and rose to 72*.    The water was laced with an thick algae bloom that fouls anything it gets on…….Yuk!  A few photos for your approval…..

Goat Island in the morning mist.

My first volunteer.

Kevin on the hunt.

My second.

Lowrance sent me a new transducer........not the cure!

Indeed a stellar day.

Sam and Kevin back at it again. Nice work guys--I always appreciate ya'lls reports. Thank you.
And if you wrap some duct tape around the pvc, it'll fit snug inside the Hobie flush-mount rod holders :-)

I use about 4 big rubber bands and it works pretty good......but I'll try the duct tape idea.  Thanks.
