It's no secret that I am not handy... :smt009

I can load a speargun and make diving vids, but that's about it!  :smt005

After seeing NoSoupForYou's awesome tutorial on replacing the small hatch on the Cuda I knew I needed it done, but was too afraid to try it myself!

http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=54604.0

Called up Dave Grigsby (gatorgrigs) at Kayak Connection and explained what I was trying to do and if he could help me out.

Dave was very sympathetic to my lack of skills and took my Cuda in, ordered the parts and did the install.

 :smt003

Looks super clean and I'm stoked on it!!

Thanks again Dave and Kayak Connection!!!

Sincerely,

Jim

Looks good--let me know how you like the Seadog hatch. I normally get Beckson deck hatches but if Seadog is better then I'll start using those instead!

We're stoked that you like the results Jim!  Next time maybe you could wipe off the fish guts before we get your boat....   :smt003

The factory hatches on the Cuda's aren't my favorite - they're prone to failure - and I think this upgrade will serve you well.  Good luck this weekend in the tourney!

We charge $45/hour for labor and cut NCKA members good deals on parts.  This install took under an hour and came out nice and clean.  PM me if you would like to discuss something specific.

Beckson or Seadog I've installed them many times.   Both are excellent products with an excellent polished finish.  and both Made in USA.

Why is that hatch better than the Hobie twist lock? I have had the screw hatches in kayaks for years and they always stick when just a bit of grit gets in the thread. I saw the Hobie twist lock Ruben installed in his Pro Fisha and I liked it a lot.

I wanted to use the Hobie hatch on mine, but it would not match the existing one.  The SeaDog hatch match up to the original hatch that Jackson uses perfectly.

Looks good Jim.  I'm sure you will put it to a good test.
