Shelter Cove before GS.....

Here are some pics of when they first started the subdivision.
Looks a bit different now. Can you see where the Tides Inn, the campground, deli and light house are now????

I've got some older photos somewhere...will have to dig them up to post. I also have a few books about the Cove and the Machi brothers. Interesting history there.

There is some incredible history there for sure. 

A few years ago I was going through some archive literature on the Mattole River.  One of the gems I found was a hand written letters by Albert Etter describing the steelhead and salmon run in the Mattole in the early 1900s.
