I just pulled the trigger on a new yak.  No more paddling......or at least less paddling.  I purchased a Hobie Outback.  I'm just starting to rig the boat and hope to be on the water in a week or so.  I love the Tarpon 120 I have and might keep it for exploring and exercise but for fishing I'll take the Outback any day.

Very nice. I think that's the same color as mine. I'm trying to find the time this week to install a fishfinder.

Have you upgraded the fins? Don't forget to pack extra parts for the Mirage drive. Mines broken on the water on me four times this year.

You know what they say. Once you go Hobie you'll never go back.

I did get the turbo fins.  What extra parts are you referring to SC?

I've had two of the snap rings that hold the fins on disappear in the last six months. See photo below. I'm going to Beef it up by switching to a split ring before hitting the water again. I think it happened because the fin adjustment below it was too loose. I've tightened it up, but now I don't have as much traction.

Also, The rod that holds the fin broke on me where the setscrew hits it. I have no idea how that happened.

Do a search for related threads. You should have the hex wrench for the setscrew, extra pins and rings, and I am taking an extra Finn and Rod with me from now on. Other people can probably add to this list.

Check the tightness of the setscrew before you go out every time.

Tapatalk is not allowing me to post photos. I'll post some later.

I don't mean to be a bummer, I'm sure you're going to have a great time with your new ride.

Nice rig, looking forward to keeping tabs on the mods!  I LOVE my new Outback, and will hopefully I'll be installing my FF this evening.

Great advice on the spare parts kit, that'll have to be added to my list as well.  :smt001

Ended up grabbing an Elite 4...nice little unit, I think it will be perfect for me.  I'll post the install over on my Outback thread.

Again, nice ride kokoloco!
