That has to take a lot of preparation & planning before you even set off. Did he have to buy a fishing licenses for BC, WA, OR, CA too?

There was a fair amount of prep before the trip but he had made long solo yak trips in Alaska before this. Steward to Prince William was one. By the time of the trip he pretty much knew what was needed for Alaska to California. Alaska license  he had,  the others not so much but the fishing was only for a meal at a time in very unpopulated places. He related having to reel up his jig like mad to avoid hooking 20 plus pound lings when he only needed a four pound snapper in a couple spots off Vancouver island.
