As for bottling... I've decided to move from 22 oz to 12 oz to keep myself from drinking too much. Opening the bottle keeps you a lot more conscious of how much you've drank.  I had thought of going to kegging but probably won't for the same reason.  Bottling isn't as much of a PITA as everyone makes it out to be.  Maybe I'll think differently in a year from now though.

Just don't think about going into kegging because your glass never seems to empty!  :smt005 I was just about to get back into brewing when my kegerator fridge crapped out on me. Took all the parts off it and will re-build or sell all the parts. It must have been a sign not to get back into kegging.  :smt005 Might have to look into picking up some bottles since that is probably the best way to go for me now. Maybe we might need to start an annual brew fest / fish fry gathering. I am sure we could get some judges to taste and score for us!

I'd be down for that.  It'd be cool to meet up with the other brewers on the site to find out what I don't know.

Hey Pacifico,

Yeah, I always have someone to share a beer with, that's why I went with the 22s. Now that you mention it I might do a few 12s just for kicks and see how they work out. The 12s are just a bit more work. The only time I thought of kegging was when I have a party. I just might plan ahead and put a batch in one of those 5 gallon kegs... even less work.

I was also going to mention you may want to check out the AHA and become a member for a year and see if you like it. They have a monthly magazine (mine came today) and offer discounts at certain places with the membership card.

Enjoy brewing, I know I have and will... I am going to do a batch of Red Ale Sunday, I can't wait to smell that brew!

It's a fun hobby that's for sure.  The reward isn't too bad either.

I'm starting to smell that red ale from here.

Nice selection of brews in the pipeline.

I've got:
- Blonde - drinking it now
- Watermelon Wheat - drinking it now
- Apricot Saison - ready in about 2 weeks
- Pliney Clone - ready in about 2 weeks
- Peach Blonde - ready to be bottled in a couple of days
- American Pale Ale - in the fermenter for another 2 weeks

I'm looking for a good wheat extract to brew.  Any suggestions?  The watermelon wheat I bought from Williams brewing is good but a bit pricey.  I see most of the other wheat kits are about half the price.

Skip the kits make the jump to all grain! It adds excitement and lets you take complete control.  There is nothing like starting will a sack of grains and a few adjuncts and ending up with beer :)

I recommend starting with Brewtarget which is free.  Once you get the hang of all grain, move to Brewsmith2 (fee).

As for what's next, make a batch of Skeeter Pee.  I can't make the stuff fast enough around here.  Www.skeeterpee.com. My neighbors, my wife, my coworkers literally are demanding I make more and it is piss easy to make!
