I just couldn't take it anymore...I had to brew up a batch. I was going to wait until I picked up the Keggle from my sister this weekend but decided to clean up the old tamale pot and make a batch in it.

I cleaned it out really well by filling it with water and PBW cleaner and then bringing it to a boil.  I scrubbed it with the soft side of a new kitchen sponge.

i made the Blond Ale that came with the kit.

Following the recipe was pretty easy, although they could use some editing for grammar.  Overall I think it went pretty well and it was a lot of fun.  Now the waiting game begins.

I already had 24 bottles that came with the kit but I dropped by and bought a 12 pack of swing top bottles since I was already there to buy cleaner, sanitizer and a thermometer for the keggle.

Can't wait to taste it, hopefully I focused enough on sanitation.

If Pacifico doesn't take them, I will. Will you be going to PIF?

Just brewed up a batch of watermelon ale and a batch of Pliney with Art.

Next up is a Saison. I'll do that one next weekend after I've bottled the first batch... The blond that turned out like I like my blondes most... Dark and creamy.

Put my blonde on 5 lbs of blue berries (t-minus 10 days), enjoyed a pint of the blonde as is and it was fantastic.  My Blueberry Brawler is going to be a thing of beauty in 2 weeks!

I also kegged my first batch of "Rough Cider".  A week on CO2 and this thing will be bottled up and ready for distribution!

Sounds good.

What's your process for adding fruit to the beer?  Are you buying fresh fruit?  Do you cook it down any before adding it? Smash it?  When do you add it... in a primary or a secondary?  I'd like to add some fruit to the Saison...maybe some strawberries or something.

Let me know where to be in two weeks to taste that blueberry brawler   :smt003

+1

I just got my plum wine started today thanks to a very generous equipment donation from Crash.  Tomorrow it gets the yeast and we'll see how it goes from there.  If its any good, I should get about 50 bottles out of it :)

How many lbs of plums did you use to make 50 bottles?

25 lbs after pitting, yield about 4 gallons pulp, plus 20# sugar and 6 gal h2o. looks like just shy of 12 gallons of "must"...
This is all a big first experiment, I hope it works :)
