I heard about striped bass caught in capitola ...I as getting excited ...then I viewed the photos of Cali Striped Bass and decided it is not for me ....I grew up catching monsters in the Chesapeake Bay ...here are two my VA fishing partner {{ HAG }}grabbed one day  last year...

There are 30 and 40lbers swimming around in the surf. But definitely not as many as they got in VA! Those are friggen hogs your bud got! I'd love to hook one of those from my kayak.

Btw I think the landlocked record was from San Luis Res until recently broken.

Yup, and sometimes when the conditions are right, there are enough to warrant targeting.  I think it was 2 summers ago that the sardines stacked up at the surfline from NB to the Cement Ship and there were consistent catches of the larger models for a couple weeks at least.
