Oh man that picture is giving flashbacks. I had a 32' Lurhs (same basic vintage and layout) until just a couple years ago. Great boat but the fuel costs... yikes!

Good thing the fuel costs are included in the price.  But as stated, the boat cruises at 6-7 knots to maximize fuel efficiency, which also allows us to troll while running between places.  Many a tuna and dorado have been caught while on the run.  You're literally fishing from the time you board the boat at the dock to the time you get off the boat 6 days later, whether trolling on the big boat, fishing off the kayaks, or even fishing on anchor in the evenings.  It's a vicious croaker bite once the sun goes down.   :smt005  We've even caught yellowtail to 40#, cabrilla to 10#, pargo, roosters, ladyfish, jacks, and all the reef fish you can stand while on anchor.

The boat has been getting quite a few upgrades recently.  All the creature comforts for your home away from home.

She has a rebuilt generator, new props, new bait pump system with alot less draw, all new sunbrella interior, a flat screen TV with a DVD player integrated, upgraded stereo.

Other than the people that have spoken up here, so far I have some interest from some non-NCKA'ers, including one for a fall or possibly a summer trip, and 2 others that don't have a time frame dialed in yet.  Keep the questions and interest coming.  Hopefully we can put a trip or 2 together this year.  I miss the Sea of Cortez!

Trip cost: $1800
Mexican fishing license: $20
Shuttle to/from airport:  If you fly into La Paz, it's about $20 a taxi each way, can share with other clients.  If you fly into cabo, it's about $30 each way for the bus and it's a 3 our bus ride.
Bait:  usually put $50 each in a pot and just pull from the pot each day we get bait from a panguero.
Dinner on Saturday night, dinner on Friday night, breakfast on Sat morning: ??
Airfare: ??
Alcohol: ??
Tips: ??

In the past, there has been freezer space on the boat for about 40 pounds of fish total, a small freezer in the galley fridge and a portable freezer that plugs into a 12V lighter that is smaller than your typical cooler.  Between the 2, we can freeze enough fish to fill one cooler.  I need to double check on what is currently available.  Also, any fish caught in the last couple days can be kept on ice for processing back at port.

I touched bases with the boat owner last night.  They upgraded the freezer on board.  It is a 4 cu ft freezer, which if I did the math right, is about 120 quarts.  My rule of thumb is you can roughly hold about a pound of frozen fish per quart so that's about 120 pounds of fish.  I do know you can fit more than 50 pounds of fish in a 60 quart cooler (it sure made the attendant at the airline desk happy when I had to offload some fish to her).

I also checked on the July 20-27 dates.  They are available.

fishkraft expressed an interest in a fall trip.  I have 2 others that can do fall as well.  Let me know your level of interest, and we can start working on a date.

Bumping this before I open up the dates to a larger audience.  Want to see if we can fill with NCKA or NWKA peeps first.

We have 2 dates on the table right now. Each date has 2 people that want to go on those trips.  We need 4 people to book to make the trip a go.  The dates are July 20-27 and Sept 21-28.  Next week I'll be shopping these dates to a larger audience, so if you are interested in going, let me know ASAP.

Just a bump to see if we can find a couple more to go on the July trip with Sailfish and Cabeza de Martillo.  It's getting a little late to fill that date, so if we can't find a couple people soon, we'll have to cancel.

Had to cancel the July date as there was not enough to fill the boat.  Now concentrating on the Sept 21-28 date.  Any more interest in this date?

I don't think we can put an early August trip together at this time, and I'd like to concentrate on the one date and fill it.  So I'll put you on the list Steve ... email coming soon.

So I still need to fill a couple of spots for the Sept 21-28 trip, or even a week in that general timeframe.  Anyone that missed out on the Islander and would like to experience something similar but on a smaller scale for more days, this trip has all the ingredients.
