We've had a few enquiries about bringing these trips back.  So here you go.  If we can put together 4 people on a trip, we'll run it.

These trips are Saturday to Saturday with fishing occurring for 6 full days from Sunday to Friday.

The time of year will determine what species you'll be fishing for.  Spring is typically a yellowtail trip with a few early dorado coming in.   Early summer brings more dorado, is the best time for roosters, and some yellowfin start trickling in.  As we get into the heat of summer and early fall, look for more yellowfin and add in some wahoo.  Billfish are certainly a possibility.

A typical week looks like this.

Saturday : Arrive in La Paz in the mid afternoon, provision up.  Hit the town.  Sleep on the boat in the harbor.

Sunday - Friday : Depart port first thing Sunday morning.  Your fishing begins.  The boat will go where the bite is.  The location will change from day to day depending on what species we are targeting and where the local intel says the bite is.  You captain is a local captain that has fished the area for 30+ years.  We have the ability to travel as far as 70-80 miles from port, although usually we don't need to go that far.  The boat travels at 6-7 knots which is perfect trolling speed, so even when we are moving, we are fishing!!!

A typical day is as follows.  Wake up, quick breakfast while the boat gets going to a spot for a morning sessions.  Mid-day break, lunch, and possibly move depending on how the fishing is.  Afternoon session somewhere.  Late afternoon, head to a mooring in some protected bay with fantastic scenery.  Spend the rest of the day on anchor.  This is free time that is usually spent fishing the reefs, snorkeling, or going for a walk on the beach, all while dinner is being prepared.  On Friday, we head back to port some time in the late afternoon.   A shower is awesome after 6 days on the water.  Hit the town for dinner.  Sleep on the boat in the harbor.

Saturday : pack up and head to the airport for an afternoon flight.

The cost $1800.  This includes all meals from breakfast Sunday to lunch on Friday.  For Saturday dinner and Friday dinner, you're on your own, which gives you a great chance to go explore the Malecon (waterfront parkway).  This cost also does not include license, alcohol, and bait and tackle.  You are encouraged to bring your own rods and reels, although there is some tackle available on board and we do have some loaner outfits available if needed.  We will work with you to make sure you are properly set up.

I keep waiting for you spearos to want to put a trip together.  There is some world class spearfishing in the waters around La Paz.  With this trip we have the ability to get in the water at the crack of dawn before all the day boats show up and spook the fish.  That first hour can be magical.  On one trip, we put 3 wahoo in the big boat before the next boat showed up.  Then the wahoo bite was done.

I'm in for a fall trip pending dates.

Not sure if I can get up to speed fast enough to commit to a spearo trip as it's my first year tryin' it. But if Fuzz and/or BigJim gives the thumbs up I'd try it. Can we do a combo trip?

We're flexible on dates right now.  The main thing is to find 4 people whose dates align.

A combo trip is possible, but it would have to be 4 people that know it and agree to it beforehand.   We certainly don't want to take away from someone's expectations of a full kayak fishing trip.

This is your home for the week.

The "SeaFortuna" is a 40 ft (12.2 m) Luhrs twin Caterpillar diesel powerboat with a very large cockpit & bridgedeck.

Is a July 20th to the 27th trip possible?

Also is airfare included in the price?

If you're on this trip Sonny, then yes!

Here is a picture of the boat layout.  We usually reserve the front cabin for any extra large clients.  The bed is a little more roomy.  The side cabin has bunks, so is shared for 2 people.  Then the bench seats in the main cabin convert to beds for the 4th client and the guide.  The captain sleeps upstairs on the bridge.

My birthday falls within this week (July 23rd)  :smt001  I don't think the air fare is included.

What didn't you bring on that trip?  If you're ever on a trip with Sonny, you never have to worry about forgetting something, because he just digs into his magic bag and says, "I have some of those right here".  That bag just kept on giving and giving, I don't know how it held all that stuff.

Oh man that picture is giving flashbacks. I had a 32' Lurhs (same basic vintage and layout) until just a couple years ago. Great boat but the fuel costs... yikes!
