Hey, I mostly fish the lower stretch above Watt, and I fish off the yak using a 10 or 15 pound mushroom styled anchor with 2 feet of chain attached to it. Seems to hold me in any type of current.

Question for you all. I hope to head out to sunrise on Sunday morning and was wondering if you all anchor in the river or paddle to shore and fish. If you anchor what type/weight do use?

I have fished from shore with my fly rod for years, just wondering how you do it from the Yack.

Thanks,

Eric

I used an 8 pound pyramid anchor.  I used my fly rod and had a blast.  Make sure you have a quick release for your anchor to be safe.  I'll be going above Sunrise on either Monday or Tuesday after work, I'll post a hookup and you are more than welcome to meet up with me and see what I use.

My anchor setup is as follows:
8 pound pyramid anchor connected to about 15 or 20 feet of line connected to a white buoy that has about 4 feet of line connected to it which has a carabeaner at the end that I hook to my quick release.

Here is a sticky on how to make the quick release system:  http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=16289.0
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!

Sounds like it's gonna start picking up on the AR, nice! That's a toad you got there Matt!!!

Anybody hear anything about the Yuba? Had a great day on the Yuba for trout about a month ago from bridge down to sycamore, now I'm thinking a 1/2 day trout/shad excursion.  Trout in the morning then go below dam and see if the shad are stacked in there for evening bite. With a yak or toon you could get on the sandbar on the other side of the dam and hammer them.

The shad bite on the Sac got screwed up by the front this week. I'll probably head up tomorrow and check out a few places around Colusa...
