Shad fishing report from the American River

Shad are all over the AR right now. A good spot to float is between Watt & Howe. Also Miller Park is a good location as well.

I'm off for the next few days and I'm open to targeting Shad from a kayak or bank with anyone. Mornings - 7pm work fine for me...

Also what kind of setup are you using at Watt? Float fishing or jighead with lead?

Bobbers and 1-32 jig head with one inch champagne grub tail and a small splits hot.

Will be out Monday-Wednesday.

Got 6 last night from the kayak above Sunrise.  Will be back out at least twice next week.  First time with the kayak on the river and loved it.

It's been a while since I fished those areas. Gonna give it a try.

Will be there Sunday morning and fish till Wednesday. They are in there , just need the right presentation.

You've got that part right. It's hit and miss, and you need to find that correct depth, about a foot off the bottom and its gonna be on fire. Ill prob join you on Tuesday.

Question for you all. I hope to head out to sunrise on Sunday morning and was wondering if you all anchor in the river or paddle to shore and fish. If you anchor what type/weight do use?

I have fished from shore with my fly rod for years, just wondering how you do it from the Yack.
