I just got back from my recent trip to Orlando, Florida.  It was a family trip to Disney World but I did manage to get a day of Bass fishing in.  I wanted to do some kayak fishing but with four of us wanting to fish, it made it a hard sale to some in the group.

Our guide and Bass pro, Chuck Pippen, picked us up at our hotel at 6:30am.  He tooks us out to what they call the Butler Chain of Lakes.  The weather conditions weren't the best because it rained off and on the whole trip.  At least it was a warm rain, and being from NorCal I'm used to cold rain.  It didn't slow down the fish at all.  Chuck said that their fish had already spawned in December and they were in a feeding mood.  We used Shiners in the morning, and I managed to catch 6 of my fish on those including the biggest of the day being an est. 4.5 lber.  I didn't know this, but Chuck said that their Florida Bass weigh less for their size in comparison to our Northern strain fish.  The remainder of the day we used Zoom Flukes and those caught us the rest of our fish.  All together all four of us on the two boats caught 30+ Bass, and I ended up with 10 of those for myself.  It was a great day, even with the rain!

If you cousin lives on those lakes, he must have one hell of a house.  We saw Shaq's house and Tiger's old house there.

Great report from an exotic destination! Well, at least it's exotic to me. :-)
A 22" northern strain LMB might weight more than a 22" FL strain LMB, but it takes twice as long to attain that size. Or did he mean the FL-strain LMB in CA weight more than they do in FL? Because that's probably true too. 20 of the Top 25 heaviest LMB were from CA. Of the other five...2 are from Japan, 1 from GA, 1 from FL, and 1 from Mexico.

yes, Windermere is sorta ritzy.  I was pretty impressed by some of the estates.  nice piles of brix.  We ate at Perkins restaurant and bakery where Tiger picked up one his mistresses LOL.  she put the "ho" in hostess.

looking forward to getting back down there, it can be fun

I think what he was saying that the Northern strain of LMB have a more dense meat making a smaller fish heavier than a Florida strain fish of the same size.  I was shocked because he said that fish I caught was about 4.5 lbs and I know a CA LMB of that size would go at least 6-7 lbs.

Of course maybe my scale has the "Fisherman Factor".   :smt003

My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it
